This test is built for laptop touchpads and trackpads. On a phone it tests the touchscreen instead: taps, two-finger taps, two-finger scrolling, pinch and drag all register on the test area below.
Checking a phone? The mic test, webcam test and speaker test work on it too.
step 1 of 7Click or tap. Move the cursor here to begin.
A pause over 100 ms between two movement events, with the pointer moving at 200 px/s or faster before and after it, counts as a hitch. Lifting your finger to reposition it mid-swipe gives the same pause, so hitches are a hint and never fail the test; from 3 on, the report adds a note. A jump is one event that moves 80 px or more and at least 4 times the movement just before it. A swipe ends after 500 ms without movement. Judged after 100 movements.
Press the touchpad until it clicks, or tap it once if tap-to-click is on.
Trace the circle on the test area once around. Your score is the share of your trace inside the band times how much of the circle you covered. Skip it if tracing is awkward for you.
